“Maintaining high quality software in an agile environment is tough,” says Adam Wollacott, QA Lead at CloudLock, a Cisco Company. “You may not be able to test everything perfectly, but you have to test the parts of the application that are most important. The stakes are too high for the application to fail.”
Fast in Every Way
With testers in the US and Israel, CloudLock’s QA effectiveness was limited by the testing software they were using. “Our testing software was slowing us down. We needed something much more robust and we found qTest,” said Wollacott. “We liked that qTest was easy to use and the QASymphony team really understood what we were trying to do,” said Wollacott. “Our team got up and running in no time. It was also very easy to get our old test cases uploaded into qTest. It was painless.”
Better Process, Better Results
Now CloudLock has a well-defined process for how they’re writing test cases and a steady flow of how they’re executing and tracking with qTest. They’re also utilizing qTest’s real-time synchronization with JIRA. “I like that you can easily import JIRA requirements into qTest and submit defects from test runs directly to JIRA. That’s a big time saver.” As a QA Lead, Adam also gets better visibility into his team’s testing activities thanks to qTest. “It’s helpful to go back and see exactly what was tested. It helps us continually improve our process.”
Since CloudLock implemented qTest, they’ve seen huge improvements in the testing team. “We’re 75% to 100% more effective than we were a year ago,” says Woollacott. “It’s night and day. It’s like we were walking and now we’re driving a Ferrari.”
