In addition,qTest also allows exporting of your test case to Excel, if desired.
Test Case Management
qTest provides a simple, intuitive way to organize test cases and to have them automatically synchronized with your project’s requirement structure. The qTest interface features a context-sensitive menu that makes it fast and convenient to create and manage test cases.
Creating Test Cases
Creating efficient design and hot keys makes creating test steps and defining expected results simpler and faster than any other test management alternative.
qTest enables you to link test cases to any number of requirements, and also to link requirements to any number of test cases, so you can efficiently make updates to requirements and test cases, and ensure associated workflows are revised accordingly.
Test Case Versions and Approvals
qTest enables you to create multiple versions of a test case, so they can be executed for different releases, customer environments, or testing configurations. Each time test cases are changed, qTest tracks the full details of those modifications and ensures proper approvals are required.
Test Execution
Managing Test Cycles
qTest automatically synchronizes a project’s schedule in the test cycle management module, which helps improve test planning accuracy and convenience. The test cycle, and its associated sub-structures, such as test suite and test run, can be configured to have common properties, such as environments, testers, releases, and testing type. Further, simply by copying and pasting, you can reuse these structures in multiple releases.
Creating Test Runs
The qTest allows you to simply select the requirements of the build’s scope or fixed defects, and qTest will automatically add the associated test cases into your test suite execution interface.
In addition, test cases can be added to a specific test suite based on its type, status, version or properties. You can also assign testers and environments for each individual test run or for an entire test suite.
Executing Test Runs
qTest features TestPad, a miniature version of the text execution module that can display next to the target application and provide a compact view of the steps that need to be executed where you can also mark results, update test cases, and create defects.
As your testing progresses, qTest will automatically track execution results, update test cases, and load subsequent test cases in your suite into the TestPad interface. In addition, you can create test case baselines, without having to go back to the main interface.
Filtering and Tracking Test Results
qTest retains a history of all test runs, execution sessions, and associated defects. You can filter, track and review execution sessions and filter by test result status, test type or defects.
The test execution dashboard lets you view the real-time status of the test cycle, statistical data on test results, and associated trends.
